May Update

I don't know if you've noticed, but things on Dandelion have been pretty quiet recently.  There are some issues with Blogger/Picasa that I'm still trying to get worked out, but they require more time than I've been able to afford them, lately.  I've used up all of my free photo storage, and I'm too cheap to purchase additional, so you may be looking at old photos til I can get it cleaned out.  (See how honest I am.....you wouldn't know you were looking at 2011 apple blossoms....not 2012 ones, if I hadn't told ya, huh?)
There haven't been earth shattering events happening around here, just lots of loose ends being worked on.  The little tractor has had the mowing deck removed and cleaned, and belts and blades replaced, ready to mow, mow, and mow some mo', with Forest Gump.  We have planted our long awaited Ave' Maria Camellia Japonica, and can't wait to see it's loveliness next spring.  We have repaired a leak in the bathroom sink drain, only to have another one emerge.....pedestals are such a pain when it comes to repairing plumbing.  My sciatica issues have finally been resolved, after 4 weeks.  I traded up.... for a mild concussion.  Now I just have a headache.....that's sort of what happens when you forget to duck, and beam yourself, on the chicken yard gate beam....so hard that you knock yourself on your rear, and see stars.
That was three days ago....
We went to a garage sale last Saturday, and I scored another pair of Danskos--YAY!, and picked and paid for enough fresh rhubarb to make Aunt Selma's Rhubarb Custard Pie.  It was soooo good.  I'd really been hungry for rhubarb for awhile now.  (Ours is puny, and being transplanted.)
The new chicky ladies are laying nicely, and we have been having enough eggs for our use, and sharing.  Victoria was thrilled that there were plenty for "heavenly eggs"(no "deviled" stuff allowed 'round here), and her favorite dessert - Sour Cream Pound Cake.  This time I added the zest from 2 lemons, and 1/2 c. poppy seeds.  It's best after "ripening"a couple of days.
I'm off to make Crab Louis for Supper.  With our "new lettuce" Anna brought me, since I had to throw out some I'd just bought, due to the listeria recall.  Boy....I'm a thinkin' we gotta get our own garden in.....

Hairy Decisions

Post by: Little  Liliana by proxy

My sister had a birthday the other day.

She got a Muppet, that came with all sorts of different noses, and eyes and stuff.

I thought it was very entertaining.

But it got me thinkin'.... Right now my hairdo is a lot like my Daddy's.

I wonder what it would look like long?

But I'm not sure....maybe blonde's not really my color.....

Maybe I should go red.....

What do ya think?

(I think Nanny better pray that I grow up with a great sense of humor...and don't hold grudges)

Rough Patch

The weather outside is frightful.  The morning started out gray, it has vacillated, minute by ninute, between gray, rain, wind, hail, and sunshine, today.  The house is quiet, Anna is on vacation this week.  The fragrance of lilacs, though sweet; taunts me.  I want so badly to be working outdoors.  Will we get a garden in this year?  They're predicting sunshine this coming week.  Will I be the planner, and Jim be the planter?  My sciatic is still  on the bum. (interesting choice of words)  I still can't bend  real well, and no sitting on a couch or carseat.  I manage to sit on a dining chair long enough to stitch a row, then I'm up pressing.  It seems for now it's rows of quilt patches instead of rows in a garden patch.  We're going to console ourselves by having pie and cake for dinner.  A California Kitchen Spinach Pizza, and a Triple chocolate cake.
